Revenue, fees, expenses, and profit: what is the difference?

Revenue is money earned from sales before business costs. Profit is what remains after applicable business expenses. Payouts are cash movement, not a replacement for either number.

Keep the layers separate

Revenue answers how much the business sold. Fees and other business costs answer what it cost to make those sales. Profit is the amount left after applicable expenses.

A bank payout can be lower than sales because of timing, refunds, processing fees, platform fees, taxes held outside Resource revenue, or other payment movements. That is why Classmade keeps sales records and financial statements separate from payout status.
